Day 150

So I got bored of my blog header. Drew this idea. Got bored of that immediately. Changed it again. Success.

Day 148

Tonight was Art Bin night! In case you hadn't read earlier on - myself and my good friend Felicity Hammond were putting on an exhibition at the University of Gloucestershire Degree Show called 'Art Bin' - a celebration of people's creative failures. We ended up getting lots more failed work from people than we expected which was very cool and made us very busy today cramming everything into the space and the evening went really well! Everyone was extremely positive and we even managed to raise a bit of money. People could take work that they liked home with them - given the artists don't want it anymore - and could donate if they fancied. Overall - a very good (and a little tipsy) night!

Photos...

Below is my contribution - an owly narrative that I did a bit ago. Next to a lovely picture of Chairman Mao that we found and claimed. I think it was my favourite.

Some failed ideas from some advertisers - namely Ben Robinson and Mike Whiteside

Day 147

I don't know

Day 146

In other news: this Art Bin malarky is going very nicely. If you do have any crappy/shameful work and are likely to see me (or are not too far away for me to walk to you) I would be most grateful to receive it. The more the merrier!

Also - I'm a bit thin on requests currently. Soo....

Day 145

Day 144

Hello again! I am back from a particularly lovely, and quite lazy holiday. It was very good.

So, you know how I said that I would be continuing doing something everyday during my holiday? Well...

I quite quickly went off that idea and decided that one illustration to some it up would be much (less effort) better. It had been 136 days - I needed a break.

Maxibons. I think they're my favourite thing about Europe. For some ridiculous reason they're extremely rare to come by in England so whenever I came across any whilst away I tended to feel pretty good about myself 5 minutes later. I'm not sure whether that's weird. In case you don't know what I'm talking about here is a Wikipedia article. They are extremely special.

As an aside - the shapes are meant to represent some of the shapes I saw whilst away. Multiple levels!

Back to normal.

Day 135

So tomorrow, hopefully, I will be going on holiday for a week to Portugal. Who knows though? The current state of affairs is quite concerning.

If I do (please) go, then I shan't be able to update this blog while I'm away. I do apologise. I will, however, be continuing to draw/do something every day and will have to upload it all when/if I come back. This is a little shitty as I am yet to miss a day, but hopefully I can draw some nice things whilst I'm gone. Apparently we're staying near a marina so there might be a slightly boaty theme.

Wish me luck!

Speak soon!

Day 134

Finished illustration for the Cheltenham Illustration Awards. Fairly pleased with how it turned out in the end. Tonight, I will sleep! Very excited...

Day 133

Hey! Wait a second! Isn't that the same as yesterday?

No.

It is slightly different. I was not happy with the previous start so it has been re-drawn - different paper, different bear. I think it's probably worth it. Though it does give me much less time to finish the rest of it tomorrow. Oh well. I'm sure it will get done. Hopefully have the finished picture up then.

Holiday on Sunday. Yes!

Thursday 13 May 2010

Day 132

Started my submission for the Cheltenham Illustration Awards today, didn't get quite as far as I'd have liked as I ended up watching Last Action Hero and then going to the gym (for the second time in my life) I think the two may be related. Writing that down has made me realise how positively testosterone-filled my day has been - I haven't even watched an episode of America's Next Top Model or anything! Ridiculous. Maybe tomorrow I'll get a pedicure, and finish this drawing. Lots of flowers. Yeah.

Also, you may notice that I'm doing something similar to another piece I did a while ago. Who are you to judge? I'll do whatever I want. Leave me alone.

Tuesday 11 May 2010

Day 131

This is for Felipe's friend James. Happy Birthday James! I hope you've had a very pleasant day and have listened to lots of Prince (apparently James likes Prince, who doesn't though?) I just tried to find some Prince videos on Youtube but apparently Prince doesn't allow this. I am slightly disappointed in him.

In other news, myself and my good friend Fliss are trying to sort out an 'Art Bin' to happen at the University Degree Show at the end of May. We're collecting failed artwork from people, exhibiting it and then destroying it at the show. Basically THIS. 'A celebration of people's failure' sums it up pretty nicely.

So if you have anything that you would like to contribute, send me an e-mail to artbin@live.com and I'll send you more details about it. It would be very nice if we could get some work from outside the Uni. Thanks!

I'm still annoyed at Prince...

Day 130

I had a very pleasant (if extremely harrowing) trip to the theatre this evening to see The Woman in Black. Actually the most terrifying experience of my life. If you ever get the opportunity to see it, definitely go - this was the second time that I've been and it somehow managed to be even worse than the first time. Got some pretty impressive nail marks in the backs of my hands. This isn't exactly relevant but I needed to talk about it so that it can be out of my system before I (hopefully) sleep. I'm afraid to close my eyes.

Day 127

So I think I finished my second year of university today. That's absolutely ridiculous. I repeat - where does the time go?

In other (slightly less terrifying) news, I did update my Flickr today! Yeah! Have a look if you fancy.

Friday 7 May 2010

Day 126

This evening I helped my good friends Mike and Ben make a book as part of their Uni work (see Ben's blog here, I recommend it highly). As it took ages and is now 2AM it counts.

In other news, an illustration I did a bit ago was used on the lovely Amelia's Magazine today. This is very exciting and makes me very happy. Also, I have new work to put on my Flickr, but will update it tomorrow as it is getting on a tad. Where does all the time go?

Thursday 6 May 2010

Day 125

Nice and simple.

In other news I spent about 10 hours in the screen printing studio today, I will eventually update my Flickr (or maybe even get a real website...) with some of my actual work.

Also - I hate crocodiles.

Tuesday 4 May 2010

Day 124

A request from my very good friend James Clark. As it is May 4th he has asked for something Star Wars based - hence my coolest post yet.

By the way, I only just got the 'May the Fourth' joke. It is not a good joke. Apparently tomorrow is 'Revenge of the Fifth'. This is an even worse joke.

I despair.

Day 123

Day 123...weird.

Day 121

I'm not sure about this...

I think it might be interesting, but I may well be mistaken.
