Day 30

Day 29

A commission from a certain Mike Whiteside, requesting that I complete the activity from this page of the Where The Wild Things Are Colouring and Creativity Book which he, very kindly, got me for Christmas. It is a very good book. I will certainly be completing more of the colouring and creative exercises in due course.

Day 26

Spent today with Bristol-based Children's book illustrator and all-round lovely person Leah Heming - check out her blog here. Had a look at Prince Edwards' Feast and had a bit of a play around with some characters and page layouts. Definitely a fun/good/useful day and I'm looking forward to meeting more illustratory types!

Inky series, much?

Day 21

Day 20

Now I know this is getting uploaded a day late, but there were scanner and going out issues that prevented it from being posted. I did make it yesterday though...honest.

Tuesday 19 January 2010

Day 19

On a fairly separate note - THIS is very nice.

Day 18

Monday 18 January 2010

Day 17

Work in progress...

Day 16

A beautiful mind

Day 15

Painted face and toga, much?

Day 14

This is for James Clark as it is his birthday today. Everyone wish James a happy birthday! He's a big boy now.

Apparently my scanner doesn't like pencil drawing very much.

Day 12

Hello

Day 11

Getting pretty frustrated with me missing the point of this. Things will get better.

Sunday 10 January 2010

Day 10

Today I was requested to remake Rainbow's album cover for whatever album this is. This request was made by Harry Atkinson as it is his birthday and he is an idiot. Happy Birthday.

Here is the original cover...

...And here is the monstrosity made to replace it.

It's Ronnie James Dio summoning some rainbow bats with his devil-horn hands. It upsets me. A lot.

Saturday 9 January 2010

Day 9

Faces were made out of food. They were then eaten, but weren't that nice. I think I felt guilty for eating something that was looking at me.

Friday 8 January 2010

Day 8

This ended up looking a lot like Sage Vaughn's work - have a look at his website to see his beautiful paintings, and then sue me.

His work was also the inspiration for the video to Way Down by N.A.S.A. which is most lovely. Watch it here

Thursday 7 January 2010

Day 7

I quite liked this before I forgot that I was doing it on the poorest quality paper and proceeded to colour it. Stupid, blotchy ink.

Wednesday 6 January 2010

Tuesday 5 January 2010

Day 5

Today it snowed (in the south, no less). A snowman was made - he is called Hulk Snowgan. I can't take full credit (I can barely take any, in fact I was pretty much just there, but I was encouraging so it counts) as he is the work of Ben, Mike, Fliss, Louis, Martha and myself. People were impressed.

Day 4

Day 4! A little late, which I apologise for, but I was watching 'Adaptation' which is a pretty interesting film. Though the thought of 2 Nicholas Cages may prevent me from sleeping for a couple of weeks.

Saturday 2 January 2010

Day 2

Returned to our lovely Cheltenham town-house today to discover that we've been robbed. All they took was my broken Xbox though, unlucky.

Here is the main suspect. I will do better next time.

JamieMilk 2009 Mix Tape  by  JamieMilk

Day 1

So this is my New Year's resolution for 2010. Everyday, I am going to create a completely new piece of work that has nothing to do with any other work I might be doing (i.e. I'm not going to be uploading pieces I did as part of a Uni project). These will probably end up being mainly drawing-based but that isn't the sole purpose of this - I want to make it about anything creative/interesting that happens.

Also, to make it more interesting, I'm opening up each day of my year to commissions. If you want me to draw/create anything on a certain day this year, just send an e-mail to jamie.illomilk@googlemail.com with the date and what you want me to do for you and I shall try to make it so!

To start with, then, I've made an extremely poorly (leave me alone) mixed mix of the music that has inspired my year, at least the last month of it, anyway. You can listen/download it here if you feel the need.
